Year 12 marks the transition from GCSE or IGCSE to the IB Diploma Programme. Bilingual students are beginning more advanced study in both English and Chinese, where they are expected to think more independently, analyse texts in greater depth and express ideas with increasing precision.
Course Cycle 1 focuses on establishing strong foundations across both languages. English A and Chinese A students develop close analysis, clearer lines of argument, stronger evidence selection and more sophisticated academic writing. Chinese B students may focus more on vocabulary, accuracy, text types, reading, listening, writing and spoken confidence.
Teaching across English and Chinese is coordinated around the student’s chosen courses, SL or HL level, schoolwork and academic goals. The aim is to help students adjust confidently to IB expectations while building the reading, writing, oral and study habits they will need for later assessments and examinations.
