I’m super proud that I earned an International Baccalaureate Bilingual Diploma. Most people basically dodged Chinese A because it was seriously tough, and I was under a lot of pressure to keep going. Honestly, I would have been happy with a Grade 5, so achieving a Grade 6 in Chinese A and a Grade 7 in English A felt unreal.

You had already taught me so much during my GCSE years in World Literature and First Language English. Learning how to turn a long, complex text into a short, precise summary seriously came in clutch when I was studying other subjects.

I always thought my daughter’s English was top-notch. She had gone through an international kindergarten and primary school, and English had never been an issue. Then her first Year 10 mock results came in and, to put it mildly, they told a very different story. It was a real wake-up call. We tried several tutors, but nothing seemed to hit the mark. She could manage English Language, but she just couldn’t see the point of having Literature as a compulsory subject. To be honest, I couldn’t see the point either, so I was at a loss as to how to help her.
