By mid-September, Year 11 students are entering an important examination year. They should be familiar with much of their course content and set texts, making Course Cycle 1 a good time to identify the strengths and recurring weaknesses that may affect their final grades.

Lessons focus on strengthening analytical writing, selecting evidence effectively, developing clear arguments and expressing ideas with greater precision. Previous schoolwork, assessments and teacher feedback can also be reviewed to identify where marks are being lost and what needs the most attention.

Timed practice will become increasingly important as the year progresses, but accuracy and quality come first. Course Cycle 1 helps students build stronger responses before gradually increasing speed and working more consistently under examination conditions.
