By mid-September, Year 10 students are beginning to settle into their GCSE or IGCSE courses. Bilingual students may already be managing different set texts, writing styles and assessment requirements across English and Chinese.

Course Cycle 1 focuses on building secure foundations in both subjects. Lessons help students organise ideas clearly, select and analyse evidence, strengthen sentence control, expand subject-specific vocabulary and identify weaknesses before they become established.

English and Chinese teaching is coordinated around the student’s schoolwork, examination board and current needs. The aim is to build stronger reading, writing and study habits early, so students are better prepared for later assessments, coursework where applicable and timed examination practice.
